Taken from three of Aesop's Fables that touch upon the topic of charade: "The Vain Crow" - in which a crow disdains his usual company and decks himself in the feathers of the beautiful peacock; the "Fox and the Mask" - in which a fox discovers that a fair face does not mean a fair heart; and finally the "Ass in the Lion's Skin" - in which an ass clothes himself in the skin of a lion in order to terrify and impress his fellow animals.
