Magnolia
Magnolia
“There can be no queen of flowers if not the perfect and pure magnolia. She has no rival as she rests above her glossy deep green leaves. I love to study the way the clear shapes build upon one another into the most beautiful and monumental forms - as if they have been carved for all of time. A mossy cone holds, nestlike, the blood-red seeds.”
One in a series of four prints, tracing the life of native flora from seed or root to flower. Each painting is a study of a branch or bloom suspended in time - drawn from life and captured quickly before its vivifying force withers and deadens. Transparent watercolor washes reflect the exquisite palette and form of each flower.
-Printed on acid-free paper with archival inks by David Kaminsky, Savannah GA.
-Signed, dated and includes a certificate of authenticity.
-11’’x14’’
